About Me

Hello! I’m Joshwa Barros, and I’ve recently embarked on a journey in the world of photography. My passion for capturing moments has transformed from a casual interest into a pursuit of beauty and storytelling through the lens.

While I may be newer to the scene, I bring fresh eyes and enthusiasm to each project I undertake. My focus is on learning and growing with every shot, exploring various styles and techniques to find my own voice. I believe that photography has the power to tell stories and convey experiences in ways words cannot, and I’m excited to be on this path.

I invite you to join me on this journey. Through my gallery, you’ll see a collection of moments, experiments, and the world as I see it. Each photo is a step in my ongoing adventure in photography, and I’d love to share that with you. If my work resonates with you or if you’re interested in capturing your own moments together, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Why Your Camera Gear Doesn't Matter (As Much As You May Think)

Usually, you'll hear a lot about how important what kind of camera you use is for photography. But let’s break down why that might not be the whole truth:

  1. The best camera is the one you have with you: Even the most expensive gear can't help you if it's not in your hands when that perfect shot appears! Better to have try and have something with what you got than to miss the moment.
  2. Great photos were made on older cameras: Remember that some of the most iconic photos were taken on cameras less sophisticated than today's basic smartphone, from decades or even a hundred years ago. Heck, all of the photos on this website have been taken on iPhones a few numbers behind the latest and 'current' ones.
  3. It’s not the camera, just the 'why' of the beholder: So take some joy in simplicity. Sometimes, it's just about capturing the moment whenever and however you see can, 'cause you know, that's literally what cameras are for.

So next time you think about upgrading your camera, remember that a better camera doesn't necessarily mean better photos!⁎

That all said, I do this for a hobby, so you might be more inclined to listen to pros who actually make cash from this than a casual like me.

Camera Warfare: Battle At F-Stop Ridge

There's been plenty of fun had from messing around and pretending. Two of the biggest examples I can name of are massive battles and guns blazing. Aka, a bunch of people running around going 'pew pew' at each other, either in a video game, with paint, or form darts. Weirdly enough, photography hasn't excluded from this type of play despite how it sounds.

Armed with their 'cameras of war', these photographers dive into their own battles of legend, where the clicks of shutters replace the sounds of gunfire and pews. It's an odd yet interesting spectacle where the battlefield is staged not with darts or paint but with lenses and tripods.

This was shown by the folks of the TheCameraStoreTV in, "Battle At F-Stop Ridge 2" In that video and others, involve photographers engaging in mock battles, wielding their cameras and accessories as if they were combat gear in a war movie, reminiscent of action scenes from films like "Saving Private Ryan", nothing graphic of course.

Curious to see how a fancy DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) can double as a piece of artillery? Then check this minute long video, with plenty of lights, camera, and action just down below:
